 Barrelhouse Chuck, whose real name is Charles Goering, was born in Columbus, Ohio, in 1958. Even as a small child, he first began playing drums, then the piano. His parents moved to Florida, where he heard his first recording of Muddy Waters with Otis Spann. These recordings touched his soul and led to a lifelong fascination with the blues.

Out of the common interest of dealing with the blues rockingly, the blues-rock quartet 'Blue Spice' from Zug has formed in early 2007 on the initiative of Guido 'Jackson' Strebel and Hugo Reichlin.
 This band of seven from Lucerne is passionately committed to the blues with all its various forms and facets.
